A Special Feast day for OLM’s

Friday, August 22nd, 2014

On August 15th Our Lady’s Missionaries gathered with friends at our central house to celebrate the Assumption of Mary.

During the Eucharistic Liturgy we offered thanks for all the blessings received during our 65 years in  ministry. For some sisters, this was the day of entrance to OLM, for others, it was the day of making vows, but for all it was a day to remember the people in the different places we have been missioned and the great devotion with which they celebrated  and honored Mary’s entrance into heaven.

During and after our evening meal, countless stories were exchanged.  One significant memory was recalled was of the first August 15th 1949, when our founder Fr. Dan announced the arrival of the written document of the approval of OLM’s as a Diocesan Community from the Apostolic Delegate.

It seems obvious that a good sense of humour among us has proved most valuable in joyfully living out our Charism of mission all these years.  We are especially grateful to our Lady on this feast for the example of love and joy with which she showed in her life.
