DOHERTY, Sister Pauline, O.L.M.
Peacefully after a long illness on Friday November 20, 2009. A member of Our Lady’s Missionaries since 1952, she has served as a nurse both in Canada and Nigeria and then in Brazil for forty- one years.
Sister Pauline was born in Waterford, Kings Co., NB, the daughter of the late Hugh and Catherine (O’Leary) Doherty. She is survived by sisters Bernie Yerxa, Sussex, NB and Helen Carroll, Kitchener, ON and her brother William (Mary) Doherty, Ottawa, ON. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Catherine Fallon, Margaret Layden and Agnes Fallon; brothers Frank, Nat, Joe and Walter Doherty and half sisters Frances Fulton and Nora Kelly.
She was a “special aunt and friend” to her numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family, the Sisters of Our Lady’s Missionaries and her many friends in Canada and Brazil.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 24, 2009 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and from 7:00pm until 9:00pm, with a prayer service at 7:30pm, at Our Lady’s Missionaries Central House, 2 Leander Court (416 752-0263).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday , November 25, 2009 from 9:00am until 10:00am at Our Lady’s Missionaries Central House followed by a Funeral mass at 11:00am at Scarboro Missions Chapel, 2685 Kingston Road (at Brimley).
After a light lunch, following the Mass, the interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady’s Missionaries’ ministries in Brazil would be appreciated.
